Welcome to Sangini
Sangini (a friend in Hindi) is a minority led women’s health organisation.
It was set up in 2002 by a group of women who identified a gap in the
area of health and looked for ways to raise awareness about it. As a multi-
cultural organisation, the emphasis was also on promoting arts and cultural
activities of diversity. It soon emerged that it can play a crucial role in
tackling inequalities in health through artistic/creative interventions while
enhancing social cohesion. Today Sangini has evolved into an organisation
with credibility, vision and capacity to deliver its work to highest professional
standards.
Sangini’s aim is to encourage women from different communities in the North East to pursue healthier lifestyles whilst simultaneously raising awareness of cultural diversity in the region.
